Working At Heights Refresher Course
The Work Safely at Heights Refresher course is a half day refresher designed for participants who have previously undertaken the complete Work Safely at Heights training course and need to refresh or re-confirm their knowledge and skills.
This comprehensive 4h course involves both theory and practical components and can be completed at our training centre in Perth. This refresher course can be completed on the same day as the Confined Space refresher course.
Participants who are successful in the completion of Working at Heights refresher course will be at an advantage to secure operational roles within, but not limited to, the mining, construction and building industries.
WHAT DOES THE REFRESHER COURSE COVER?
This refresher course is based on the national competency standards accredited by the state and national training authorities and will allow participants to regain a sound understanding of all legal requirements. Topics covered in this course include:
- Legislative requirements
- Risks associated with working at height
- Priority of access
- Forces in falls
- Physical controls
- Fall arrest equipment
- Types of anchors
- Rescue procedures
PREREQUISITES & REFRESHER COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
- Photo ID must be presented i.e. current drivers license or passport
- Basic English language and literacy skills
- Current Statement of Attainment for Work Safely at Heights (RIIWHS204D or equivalent issued within the last five (5) years prior to attending this refresher course
On successful completion of the Working at Heights refresher course, the participants will be issued with a KI Training and Assessing Statement of Attainment and a Work Safely at Heights wallet card. This course is a Nationally Accredited Course.
WHO SHOULD COMPLETE THE WAH REFRESHER COURSE?
For workers who: A. already have their Working At Heights (WAM) qualification; and, B. want to update their training – this is the refresher course they should look to.
You must hold an existing Working at Heights licence, ticket or statement of attainment to complete this training. Your licence/ticket/statement of attainment must be no more than 5 years old. You will be required to provide a copy of your qualification in order to successfully complete this course and receive your certification.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU REFRESH YOUR SKILLS?
As the technologies, techniques, rules, guidelines and laws are always evolving, it’s a good idea to update your training, skills and knowledge periodically.
How long you should take between updating your WAM training depends on the site procedures involved and your employer’s policies. The currency period most employers require for this unit of competency is 24-months (2 years).
